GPPS Full Form:
General Purpose Polystyrene
What is GPPS?
Transparent polymers made from the polymerization of styrene monomer are known as general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) resins. GP Both extrusion and injection moulding can be done with polystyrene. GPPS gains from the qualities that make processing simple as well as from a number of certifications, including food contact. It is created as transparent cylindrical granules, which are then heated to between 190 and 230 degrees Celsius and extruded or molded into completed goods.
General-purpose polystyrene, also referred to as "GPPS," is made from the styrene monomer polymer by a suspension method. It is a solid product that is compressed and then granulated to make a range of products. This substance has a high degree of clarity and transparency. Iran General purpose polystyrene (GPPS) is a pressure-resistant material that is fairly strong.
This substance is suitable for use in moulds for finished goods such as toys, CD caps, hangers, and plastic cups since it flows easily. This polystyrene is used in the manufacture of computer hardware, jewelry boxes, and other containers. Iran GPPS also manufactures disposable medical items including Petri dishes, lab tubes, lab kits, and gardening equipment, so it can be used in a variety of situations.
How is GPPS made?
Transparent cylindrical granules are first formed, heated to a temperature of between 190 and 230 degrees Celsius, and then extruded or molded into finished products. Because of their low cost, ease of processing, and range of grades, polystyrene (PS) and the polymers derived from PS are extensively used. High-impact polystyrenes, such as styrene-butadiene rubber and styrene-butadiene copolymers, are used in the production of more than 60% of polystyrene plastics. Numerous more modifications can be made to styrene copolymers.
GPPS uses/forms
As the name suggests, there are wide range of uses of GPPS. Multiple things can be made from this plastic. Some of the common uses of GPPS are mentioned below-
