New Delhi, December 24, 2024 – In a significant move, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has announced an extension of the deadline for implementing quality control norms for polypropylene (PP) products.
According to the notification issued by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the new deadline has been extended to June 24, 2025.
This extension is expected to provide manufacturers and stakeholders in the plastics industry with additional time to comply with the quality standards mandated by the BIS. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a smoother transition for industries while upholding product quality and safety benchmarks.
PP, a widely used thermoplastic polymer, plays a crucial role in various industries, including packaging, automotive, and textiles. The BIS quality control norms aim to enhance product reliability, safety, and market competitiveness.
Industry experts view this extension as a pragmatic approach to address concerns raised by manufacturers regarding challenges in meeting the original deadline.
Stakeholders are encouraged to utilize this extended timeline effectively to align their products and processes with BIS standards, fostering a robust ecosystem of high-quality PP products.
