New Delhi, November 12, 2025 - In a significant policy step, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals), Government of India, has rescinded the mandatory BIS Quality Control Orders for several key petrochemical and polymer commodities, effective immediately.

The commodities released from BIS certification requirements include major petrochemical feedstocks such as Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG), along with several polyester chain products — Polyester Staple Fibre (PSF), Partially Oriented Yarn (POY), Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY), Industrial Yarn (IDY), and 100% Polyester Spun Yarn.

Additionally, the government has withdrawn BIS mandates on commodity polymers like Polyethylene (PE) includes HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, Polypropylene (PP), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) Copolymers, as well as engineering plastics including Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polycarbonate (PC), and Polyurethanes (PU).
